Property Insurance Specialist

We are looking for candidates with a high attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and a positive attitude! Experience and/or education in the accounting, finance, business, or real estate field is a plus. Responsibilities include, with minimal to moderate supervision, perform workflow receipt and distribution, document review and management, and basic insurance reviews. Work is both time sensitive and requires a high degree of accuracy.

Purpose:

Provide timely and accurate loan level property insurance compliance to clients to facilitate portfolio risk management evaluation.

Summary:          

With minimal supervision, provide accurate and timely reporting to clients detailing loan level insurance compliance. 

Detail:

  • Perform review of Mortgage/Deed of Trust, Loan Agreement and/or Commitment Letter to determine insurance requirements at the loan level
  • Review 3rd party reports (i.e. appraisal, site inspection, seismic report, zoning report, engineering and environmental reports) to determine property specific insurance requirements
  • Make written and verbal contacts to insurance agents to obtain renewal information
  • Monitor outstanding requests and perform follow up as necessary to ensure timely receipt of insurance renewals
  • Analyze and interpret Commercial Insurance Accord Forms, Declarations Pages and related documents to ensure compliance of insurance coverage
  • Resolve non-compliant issues through verbal and written communication with agent, borrower and/or asset manager
  • Update insurance information to show expiration dates, agent contact information, carrier information, types and amounts of coverage and any unresolved non-compliant items.  Updates may be in the form of Excel spreadsheets or live entries into client database
  • Obtain and submit invoices for payment of premiums on escrowed loans
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Work experience requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years experience with mortgage loan servicing
  • 1 to 2 years experience with commercial insurance company is preferred
  • Preferably, Commercial Insurance License and Commercial Insurance Service Representative designation (CISR)

Skills:

  • Must be able to adapt quickly and efficiently to client-specific requirements and objectives
  • Working knowledge of terminology relevant to loan and commercial insurance documents
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
  • Ability to meet deadlines while achieving high levels of accuracy

Essential Computer Skills Requirements:

Advanced knowledge of the following is required:

  • MS Office and Outlook
  • MS Excel - Intermediate
  • MS Word – Intermediate
  • Ten key entry data efficient

Required Education from an accredited Institution:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Commercial insurance license, preferred
